If you can believe it, July is half way over. Even though I haven't been filling my blog with pictures and descriptions of events we HAVE been busy. Here's the Cliff's Notes version of our month so far:
We took a trip to the zoo which was great! We met a bunch of friends from our ward there and everyone had a good time. We got to see all our favorite animals and since we were there in the morning the animals were up and about.
The kids got to play in the fountains which they were thrilled about but which led to a very unfortunate memory (stay tuned).
Can't you just tell they were psyched to run through the water and play? I win for "best Mom" award because I forgot my sunscreen in the car and had to take some from another responsible parent.
If only we had known what was in this water.....(again, stay tuned)
Scott got even cuter. Seriously this baby is so delicious I could just eat him up.
He also has become bored with the camera in his face. This is him not impressed by having his picture taken.
He decided his blankets are the greatest things and loves to suck on them. He has added "sucking on my blanket" to his daily routine.
The kids regularly feed the geese who have taken up residence behind our house. We are officially out of old cereal and stale crackers. They love it.
The kids started a new gymnastics class. This place is a LEGIT gym where gymnasts train. Andrew LOVED watching the kids practice before his class started. I think it's going to be a very good thing for both of them.
We've spend lots of time bouncing our hearts out on the tramp.
A family from a home school group we belong to GAVE us this bunk bed! WooHoo! A bunk bed has been on our "someday we will buy" list for about a year now. The kids LOVE it and have spend hours playing in their room since its arrival. The first night they slept together on the bottom bunk. The second night they slept together on the top bunk and now they're both sleeping in their own bunk. We enticed Andrew to sleep alone on the bottom by giving him Walter (the giant pillow on his bed is named Walter. A pillow that big need a name).
We celebrated the 4th of July with our friends Jon and Jan and their boys. We LOVE them and wish they lived closer than Elizabeth City.....but we were so glad they came to play for the day. A BIG thunderstorm ruined our chances to see any fireworks but we all had a good time anyway. We decorated birthday cookies and sang "Happy Birthday" to America! This was our 3rd 4th of July in Virginia and the 1st one Mike has been home for so we were happy to spend the day together!
And, last but not least that unfortunate thing after the zoo. Andrew picked up some disgusting bacteria playing in the fountains which caused this awful rash all over his body. (The doctor asked if he had been in a hot tub and said it looked like something he would have picked up playing in water and the zoo fountains were the only water he had recently played in). It was pretty itchy and awful for the little guy. Luckily it only hung around for about a week with the medicated lotion the doctor gave us and he's about back to normal. I'm so grossed out by the fountains at the zoo now. It's amazing that a tiny little bacteria you can't even see with your eye can cause such havoc on a body.

Love the bunkbed! That was lucky. I'm sure their bedroom seems huge now? 2: You've fed the geese. Now they'll never go away. 3: I don't know if Scott could get any more cuter. I can't believe how much he reminds me of Emma. and 4: Nasty public zoo water! Poor Andrew!
