One last hurrah

Mike went to check in this morning. As he said "the music starts now." Not that the music hasn't been playing thus far....but he hasn't had to go to work in a couple of weeks. Moving is hardly a vacation, but I have been able to shower whenever I want because he is here. So, to celebrate our last day of no studying, no all encompassing schedule and a day of BEE-UTIFULLLL weather we went to the zoo. It was good. I've been to better zoos. Phoenix zoo is my favorite. San Diego is nice but it's HUGE, expensive and WAY too crowded most of the time. I've been to worse zoos. Pensacola didn't have much of a zoo. This zoo was right in the middle of my judgement but Emma LOVED it. She could not have been more interested. From the moment we walked in she was talking and pointing and running and jumping. She loved the zoo. She loves animals in general. However she has a "mommy and baby giraffe" and a mommy elephant (we're waiting for Santa to bring us the baby elephant). You can imagine her zeal at seeing the giraffes and elephants. And, REAL lions and zebras! We think it will be worth our $40 to get a membership there. Andrew would have been happy to jump into an a cage and play with the animals-especially the ones with water in them. He became frustrated by the end of the day that we weren't going to let him join any of the animals in their habitats. Apparently he wouldn't mind being lion food. He liked seeing all the animals too....but the thrill of HIS day was when a big coast guard helicopter fliew right over us at only about 300 feet (I could be wrong but he was pretty low). That was so great!!
Here's Andrew thrilled he can see the little spider monkey's jumping around in the trees

There were 3 female lions and one male. They seemed a little close to me (and I was having visions of that San Diego Zoo tiger attack) but they all stayed on their rock and soaked up the sun.

We love the zoo!

This is my favorite from the day....the kiddies watching the elephant.

Emma's face of astonishment at the sight of giraffes....
