Landing on the boat

Mike had an especially fascinating day at work yesterday. Even though in my imagination he does something safe like sitting at a desk or building sandcastles to put a roof over our heads and food in our bellies...he comes home with pictures like the ones above and I remember...sometimes he lands a helicopter on a moving boat out in the Gulf of Mexico. I am really proud of him. I know his kids are too. Every single time a helicopter flies over our house (which is often) she says "there goes daddy." It's as if he's the only pilot in the world. When we go up to the base after you enter all the airplanes (Mike used to fly in primary training) are in a flight line to our left. Emma always says "look out your window mommy. Do you see daddy's airplanes?" Then, when we get to where we go to pick Mike up there are lines of helicopters. She directs me to look out my window again and says "do you see all daddy's helicopters?"

Mike has only 10 flying days left until he's DONE with this portion of training....he will get his "wings" (which means he's an offical pilot and then gets little gold wings to wear on his uniform) on September 26. It's a pretty cool ceremony. We will find out earlier in that week where we are going......
