New Diggs

Why no posting in almost a month?   Good reason.  Good reasons.  Number one- we moved.  Yes, we moved away from the fabulous granite counter tops and I am now preparing my dinners on for mica counter tops.  Our milk is cooling in a plain old fridge and the stainless steel shining days are gone.  We don't have to show our ID to an armed guard before we get home.   Yep, we moved off base.

It was a whole thing.

We had been on the waiting list for a four bedroom house on base for about 17 months and during that time we became....disenchanted with the whole system.  We LOVED where we lived.  We loved sending our kids on walks around our little "block" or around the block on their bike.  We loved having lots of neighbors we could ask for a cup of sugar.  We loved the track to run on and bike around. BUT, outside our sweet little pod we were annoyed by so many things.  Having friends who are not military is SO annoying.  Getting them to come to your house is just an act of Congress.  Everything we liked to do was off base....and most things were 20 minutes off base.  We started thinking about moving off base.  Embedding ourselves in the community and being a part of the community. We started looking.....and we found a house we were drawn to make our home.  The back yard is fun for the kids.  We gave up a bit- and there are some adjustments being made from all of us.  It was a hard choice- specifically because we switched wards and we love our friends.  No matter how close you are- we are only about 13 miles from where we started- moving is hard on kids.      But, we are in our new home.....and we love it.

I have taken almost NO pictures this month.  We have been overwhelmed with packing, moving, unpacking and the small detail of the three children we have to feed and care for.  Never mind school work and our just-about-10 month old who gets into such mischief as eating the rocks out of the fireplace, trying to dive into the bathtubs, play in the toilets, eat an entire roll of paper towels, falling down steps, opening and shutting doors, cupboards or whatever else he can get his hands on.  In general- we are exhausted.  BUT- it's all coming together finally and if you're on Facebook you saw that yesterday my status said I was "hopeful" we would not be featured on an upcoming episode of hoarders.  It is all coming together.
